Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Samburu, where you’ll enjoy game drives to observe rare dryland species like the Somali ostrich and golden-breasted starling. Over the next two days, explore Samburu’s arid terrain, home to unique bird species such as the pygmy falcon and vulturine guineafowl, and enjoy afternoons by the Ewaso Nyiro River, where you may spot yellow-billed storks and other waterbirds. An optional visit with the local Samburu community offers a cultural insight into the region.

From Samburu, journey south to the cooler highlands of Aberdares, known for its diverse birdlife, including the mountain buzzard and the endemic Aberdare cisticola. Enjoy morning birding walks and game drives through the misty forest, along with leisure time at a waterhole where African green pigeons and Hartlaub’s turacos gather. Next, travel to Lake Naivasha, where boat rides and shoreline explorations offer sightings of African fish eagles, pelicans, and migratory waterbirds. DAY 1: DRIVE TO SAMBURU

  • Pick up from Nairobi and drive towards Samburu(5 Hours).
  • Enjoy an Afternoon birding game drive to spot rare dryland species like: Somali ostrich, vulturine guineafowl, and golden-breasted starling.
  • Overnight and dinner at Samburu.

DAY 2: FULL-DAY EXPLORATION SAMBURU

  • Early morning game drive to explore Samburu's arid landscape, home to species such as: Pygmy falcon, superb starling, and white-headed mousebird.
  • Return to lodge mid morning and have breakfast 
  • Afternoon bird watching along the Ewaso Nyiro River, searching for waterbirds like yellow-billed storks. (Optional cultural interaction with Samburu communities)

DAY 3: FULL-DAY EXPLORATION SAMBURU

  • Enjoy a Full-day game drive with lunch in the park.
  • Focus on spotting raptors such as Martial eagles and Bateleur eagles.
  • Return to camp/lodge for overnight and dinner.

DAY 4: DRIVE TO ABERDARE

  • Depart from Samburu after breakfast and drive south through Nanyuki to Aberdares.
  • Check-in at camp/Lodge.
  • Evening birdwatching at the lodge’s waterhole, where species like African green pigeons and Hartlaub’s turacos may appear and dinner.

DAY 5: FULL DAY EXPLORATION IN ABERDARES

  • Drive to Aberdare forest for a (4 Hours)Morning birding walk, focusing on endemic species: Jackson’s francolin, Aberdare cisticola, and mountain buzzard.
  • Afternoon relaxation with wildlife sightings at the waterhole.
  • Overnight and dinner in Aberdare.

DAY 6: FULL DAY EXPLORATION IN ABERDARES

  • Enjoy a full-day game drive exploring more in Aberdare forest
  • Afternoon picnic lunch and Optional guided forest hike with a focus on montane forest birds and butterflies.
  • Overnight and dinner in Aderdare.

DAY 7: DRIVE TO LAKE NAIVASHA

  • Depart from Aberdares and drive to Lake Naivasha, passing through scenic Rift Valley viewpoints.
  • Afternoon boat ride on Lake Naivasha, focusing on waterbirds like African fish eagles, white pelicans, and great cormorants.
  • Overnight and dinner at Lake Naivasha.

DAY 8: FULL DAY EXPLORATION LAKE NAIVASHA

  • Go on a Morning bird-watching along the Lake shores to spot herons, storks, and kingfishers.
  • Afternoon at leisure activity or optional Crescent Island walk to see resident birds and herbivores.
  • Overnight and dinner at Lake Naivasha.

DAY 9: FULL DAY EXPLORATION LAKE NAIVASHA

  • Go on a Full-day birdwatching around Naivasha, focusing on migratory birds.
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch and afternoon enjoy an optional boat ride.
  • Evening relaxation at the resort, with opportunities for bird photography at sunset and dinner.

DAY 10: DEPARTURE TO AIPORT

  • Enjoy a Leisurely morning breakfast at the resort with birdwatching from the gardens.
  • Late morning: Drive back to Nairobi, stopping at scenic viewpoints along the way.
  • Afternoon: Arrival in Nairobi and drop off at the airport/hotel, marking the end of your birdwatching safari.
